FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brooklyn, NY – On Thursday, July15, 2010 6:00 PM. Singer / Pianist / Composer Rick DellaRatta, considered by many to be one of the finest Jazz Artists performing today, will perform a special Benefit Concert for The Papillon Foundation at The Beast Tapas Bar located at 638 Bergen Street in Brooklyn, NY. This event will also feature the fabulous artworks of Jonathan Fritz.

In 2002 Papillon was born out of the need to feed hungry people in the poverty stricken communities south of Johannesburg. 7 years later the organization was responsible for providing 26 000 hot meals each year, and in association with other organizations currently distributes clothing, toiletries and other goods to orphans, old age homes and the poor of all ages, races and creeds in Johannesburg, Soweto, Orange Farm, Carletonville and other areas. New Christmas Presents are also given to 300 needy Children every December. Papillon has, to date, distributed 51.2 tons of goods to the needy. For more information please visit www.papillonfoundation.com.

Having performed with everyone from Dizzy Gillespie to Paquito D' Rivera, Rick DellaRatta is now considered by many to be one of the finest Singer/Pianists performing today and one of only a handful of Jazz Artists who can make a successful musical presentation to a large audience without having to abandon the true art form of Jazz. His unique and original piano playing and composing has been compared in print to Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Bill Evans, McCoy Tyner, Keith Jarrett, Joe Zawinul, Horace Silver, Oscar Peterson and Thelonius Monk while his signature vocal sound and style has been likened to Chet Baker, Billie Holiday, Joao Gilberto, Ivan Lins, Michael Franks and Antonio Carlos Jobim.

Jonathan Fritz not only utilizes his canvas to create elaborate, fantasy-filled dreamscapes for his viewers, but also to create hope and support for various causes he holds close to his heart. Within several years, Jonathan has been honored with the invitation to donate paintings for many charitable events benefiting many causes.  Jonathan has also spent years tutoring children with behavioral problems and perhaps one of his most honorable achievements is his use of artwork as a means to help his students find a sense of personal creativity and self confidence. Since its opening in 2005, Beast has won acclaim, particularly for its unique menu, including a Top Pick in The New York Times, inclusion in the Top 5 Brunch Spots in New York City from New York Magazine, and was nominated in the Reader’s Choice Awards for Best New Brooklyn Restaurant in Time Out New York.
